How long does AliExpress shipping take for dropshipping orders?
Realistic delivery times to the US, Canada, the UK and Europe, what AliExpress itself guarantees, and how to write a shipping policy customers believe.
Delivery time is the question every dropshipping customer asks, usually twice. Here's what to expect, and how to set expectations so the second question never comes.
The two clocks: processing and shipping
An AliExpress order has two waits:
- Processing. The supplier packs and hands the parcel to a carrier. This typically takes 2 to 7 days.
- Shipping. The carrier gets it to your customer.
Your customer only sees the total. When you write a delivery promise, add both.
Typical delivery times by destination
AliExpress doesn't publish one official figure, and times vary by supplier, product and season. Tracking services and dropshippers report roughly these ranges for AliExpress Standard Shipping, after processing:
| Destination | Typical shipping time |
|---|---|
| United States | 2–4 weeks |
| Canada | 2–4 weeks |
| United Kingdom | 2–4 weeks |
| Western Europe | 2–4 weeks |
| Remote areas | up to 6 weeks |
Items held in a US warehouse are often delivered in under a week. Products sold under AliExpress Choice get faster delivery in many countries, but the promise differs by market, so check the estimate on the product itself.
Expect slower deliveries in the weeks before major sales and around Chinese New Year, when many suppliers and carriers pause.
What AliExpress guarantees
In August 2026 AliExpress set a delivery guarantee for US shoppers. If an order hasn't been delivered within 20 days of shipping for US-stocked items, or 30 days for cross-border items, the buyer's refund request is approved automatically.
As a dropshipper you are that buyer, on your own AliExpress account. So if a parcel misses those windows, you can claim the refund from AliExpress, and you'll still owe your own customer whatever your refund policy promises.
Choose the delivery option, not just the product
The same product often has several delivery options at very different speeds and prices. Before you import, check for each one:
- The estimated delivery time to your main market.
- Whether it's tracked. Untracked parcels can't be proven delivered, and that's how a late parcel becomes a chargeback.
- The cost, because you'll be building it into your price.
DropBridge lists each delivery option's cost, estimate and tracking, and chooses the cheapest tracked one by default. You can pick a different option for any variant.
Write a shipping policy people believe
Shopify asks every store for a shipping policy that includes fulfilment timelines. Make yours specific:
- Give a range, such as "Orders arrive in 10 to 20 business days", taken from the delivery options you actually use.
- Say that orders ship from the supplier's warehouse, often overseas. Shopify's terms say you should tell customers when you use a third-party supplier.
- Explain when the tracking link arrives. It's usually a few days after the order, once the supplier has shipped.
An honest "two to three weeks" earns fewer complaints than a hopeful "5 to 7 days".
Frequently asked questions
Why does AliExpress shipping take so long?
Most items ship from China and travel by economy air or sea freight with several handovers between carriers. The supplier also needs a few days to pack the order before it moves at all.
Is AliExpress Standard Shipping tracked?
Yes, AliExpress Standard Shipping is a tracked service. Some cheaper options are not, so check the tracking status of each delivery option before you rely on it.
How can I get faster AliExpress delivery for my store?
Choose products stocked in a warehouse in your customers' country, or products whose delivery option shows a shorter estimate to your market. Expect to pay more for the faster option and build that into your price.
What if an AliExpress order never arrives?
Open a dispute on AliExpress from your buyer account. For US orders, the delivery guarantee approves the refund automatically once the 20- or 30-day window has passed. Refund or reship to your own customer according to your policy.
Should I tell customers their order ships from China?
Tell them it ships from the supplier's warehouse and give a realistic delivery range. Shopify's terms say you should tell customers you use a third-party supplier, and being upfront prevents most disputes.
